Qatar Airways Visit to the RGS

This week we were delighted to welcome Qatar Airways to the RGS. The Oryx Kids Club mascots; Orry and Orah the Oryx, Kamil the Camel, Faaiz the Falcon and Farah the Desert Fox came along and pupils enjoyed a fun morning of activities linked to travel and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Pupils participated in face painting and coloring, construction and created their own adverts for Qatar Airways. Lots of pupils were seen dancing with the mascots and the airplane, which landed in the atrium overnight, proved to be very popular!

Thank you to Qatar Airways for visiting our school and providing our pupils with an enjoyable learning experience. We look forward to establishing a long term
relationship for the benefit of our pupils.

Transition Morning

This week we held our transition morning in preparation for next academic year. Transition Mornings are an important part of the transition process as they support pupils to move from their current year group or school to their new one with the least amount of stress and worry.

We were delighted to welcome newly enrolled pupils to the RGS as pupils from Reception to Year 8 spent time in their new classrooms, working alongside their new classmates. Pupils initially met in their phase groups before they set off for their new classrooms where they started to get to know each other and took part in a wide variety of activities.

Teachers who are already based in Qatar came along for the morning and those teachers who are currently in the UK sent videos and presentations to be shared with the pupils who will be in their classes next year.

It was lovely to welcome a large number of new parents who spent the morning listening to presentations from some of our current parents and Parents’ Association members. There was also an opportunity for them to socialise and ask questions. Thank you to our current parents who came along to help make our new parents feel welcome and part of the RGS community.
