The RGS represents the United Kingdom at the Emir’s Cup Final

The Royal Grammar School, Guildford in Qatar was delighted to be invited to represent the United Kingdom as part of the Emir’s Cup Final held on Friday 19th May at the newly refurbished Khalifa Stadium, the first of the football stadiums to be complete in advance of the 2020 World Cup.

Along with representatives from community groups and countries from around the globe, the RGS promoted ‘Education in Great Britain’ and celebrated ‘Great British Children’s Authors’. Children were provided with an opportunity to enjoy well known stories by British authors including Roald Dhal, Jacqueline Wilson, Julia Donaldson and J.K. Rowling and completed activities linked to some of their favourite British  book characters.

The event was attended by thousands of people and our stand proved to be one of the most popular with its iconic British themed props and book character cutouts.

Mr Downs, the School Head  proved to be a main attraction in his Union Jack suit and tie. He was very much in demand for photographs.
