From the 5th – 9th February we held a very successful ‘Health Week’ at the RGSGQ, aimed at helping our pupils understand the importance of a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise.
Each morning during Health Week the whole school gathered to take part in morning exercise led by Mr Downs, Head of School. What a great way to start the day with fun and enjoyable stretching and dance routines.
Throughout the week there was lots of exciting activities taking place with each day focused on a different theme. ‘On Soccer Sunday’ we welcomed Qatar Premier League Soccer School into our school and on ‘Movement Monday’ we all took part in yoga and dance sessions, as well as navigating an obstacle course using our bikes, scooters and other forms of transport. ‘Tasty Tuesday’ focused on eating a healthy balanced diet and we learnt how to make healthy, delicious snacks, including tropical fruit kebabs. During ‘Keep Well Wednesday’ Nurse Odessa visited our classroom and talked to us about keeping well and looking after our bodies. We learnt how to brush our teeth – the correct way! Finally, on Thursday 9th February we held our first ever Sports Day, which brought our Health Week and our second school term to a successful end.
